Why Indian women
should thank God for
APJ Abdul Kalam
I am a great fan of APJ Abdul Kalam.
I admire him both as a scientist
and as a statesman.
And, I am a vociferous admirer, too, at that.
People some times ask me what is so great about him. Kalam mastered subjects
that are not taught in any university anywhere in the world, and he helped
our country become one of the most advanced countries in the whole world.
Now, don’t guffaw — yes, India
is an advanced country by the reckoning of even the United States of America.
Some people wonder if Kalam would make a good president. “He is
not a politician,” they say. That is precisely why he would make
a good president.
APJ Abdul Kalam even has a vision of — and for — India.
And, he has the kind of mastery of technology
with which he probably could turn his vision into a tangible reality.
Now, the point is that he realises the immense role women play in the
building of a nation. He underscores the importance our decision-makers
need to attach to women and children.
The greatest asset of any nation is its sensible women.
APJ Abdul Kalam realises this.
We should thank God for Kalam.
